There’s a gap in foster care in East Texas. Let’s change that.

Understanding the Gap

Last year, there were 30,000 children in foster care in the state of Texas, and 2,000 of them were located in our region.

One of the goals in foster care is to find a safe placement, either in a foster home or group residence, as close to their home as possible.

In East Texas, 1 in 2 kids were placed in a home within our region.

But the older kids get, the harder it is to find a placement for them. For kids over the age of 7, only 1 in 3 found a home in our region.

And as kids get older, they often have more needs because of the trauma they have experienced. For kids with these increased needs, only 1 in 4 found a home in East Texas.

Gateway
of Hope

A safe, home-like environment to treat, stabilize, and prepare teenage girls for a more permanent home.

Oak Haven

A Supervised Independent Living home for young women who are making the transition from foster care to adulthood.

Our team of licensed counselors serve across our organization to support foster families and care for children and teens.

Home

We structure our ministries to provide a loving home where each child is welcome and shown their value and worth. Hope Haven does this through group residential care and foster family placements.

Healing

Hope Haven’s treatment team includes licensed counselors as well as mental and behavioral health professionals who can provide support across the organization, leading to healthy and long-lasting placements.

Hope

We equip the kids in our care with tangible life skills to prepare them for adulthood and ensure they have the opportunity to break the generational cycles of abuse, neglect, addiction, or poverty they may be facing.

Life at Hope Haven

Our Story

Founded in 2018 in Tyler, Texas, in response to a clear and urgent need in our community.

2018

Gateway of Hope

Hope Haven’s first big venture was its residential home, Gateway of Hope. Located near Lindale, Texas, it offers a home as well as therapeutic care for teenage girls ages 13–17 who had no other placement options. Since opening in 2018 it has served more than 250 teenage girls in foster care.

2021

Oak Haven

Recognizing that the need for stability and support does not end at age 18, Hope Haven expanded its continuum of care with the launch of Oak Haven, a Supervised Independent Living residence for young women ages 18–21.

2025

Family Solutions

Hope Haven took another significant evolutionary step with the launch of Family Solutions, a licensed counseling and therapy program focused on addressing critical mental health needs for children and teenagers in the foster care system.
